| Season 2010 |
|
2010 sees Chester le Street 1st XI mount the defense of their North East Premier League title as well as the ECB National Club Championship. In what is bound to be an exciting season full of both thrills and spills as the Keets battle for success in 2010.
2009 was one of the most successful and memorable seasons in the long history of Chester-le-Street Cricket Club. Having won the NEPL 1st Division Championship by a healthy margin of points the First Team then went on to win the NEPL Twenty/20 competition and reached the quarter final of the ECB National competition. More importantly however, we also won the prestigious ECB National Cricket Club Championship by defeating London club Spencer in a hard fought game at the Derby County Ground in September. There was much celebration and festivity in the Club when the players returned to be greeted by supporters and members. Our supporters travelled to Shrewsbury, Preston, and Derby (twice) – they were loud and wonderful! The Club was also nominated for and won the award of Local Heroes ‘Team of the Year’ sponsored by the Northern Echo.
With a limited number of pitches on our ‘square’ and so many games to fit in, we have to thank our groundsman Duncan Carr for keeping the ground in such excellent condition once more.
Everyone at Chester-le-Street Cricket Club is looking forward to the 2010 season. We will play with determination, enthusiasm and a good attitude at all levels. We will welcome opposing teams to Ropery Lane and enjoy visiting their grounds. We look forward to meeting and enjoying the company of players, officials and supporters from all NEPL clubs once again.
