No Fun in The Sun
On winning the toss and deciding to bat on the Duncan Carr road Hetton Lyons duly entertained the crowd with some big hitting and punishing strokes, all of Chester le Streets bowlers were taken to task by old cestrian Jarvis Clay 82 and club pro Lal Kumar 136 in 115 balls. Hetton Declaring on 334 for 4 in 60 overs, a mammoth task for CCC.
Once again the top order were dismissed cheaply, again Andrew Smith 74 and Usman Arshad 49 were left to lift the Chester le Street innings with a 87 run partnership.Wickets tumbled at regular intervals until Josh Wilson and Andrew Bell batted 15 overs whilst making a valuable 28 runs. Andrew's dismissal left CCC with the prospect of batting out the last 5 overs with the last pair at the wicket, no problems Josh showing no signs of pressure and everything hitting the middle of the bat, his efforts lifted CCC score to 211 for 9 thus gaining an extra batting point.
Special mention must go to groundsman Duncan Carr, he has had his problems with the outfield this season but it still has not stopped him producing pitches which both sides think are fantastic to play on.
Saturdays game produced 545 runs,13 wickets in 120 overs including 62 x 4's,9 x 6's, not bad for the spectators.
