    A brisk stroll through 2019

We can’t quite believe that we’re summarising 2019 already… We know it’s said so often but honestly, seriously, where have the last 12 months gone?!

This does present us with a great opportunity to look back on what has been a fantastic year for Chester-le-Street Cricket Club.

Here, take our hand and together let’s take a brisk stroll through 2019.

    The teams

Chester-le-Street’s First Team were consistent all season and demonstrated great teamwork, determination and overall talent. As you’ll remember, we faced Burnmoor in the last game of the season where we both fought to win the league – unfortunately, we just missed out and had to settle for a (still very decent!) Top 3 finish.

The Junior section of Chester-le-Street Cricket Club has been thriving since the start of the year. We now have over 140 kids enrolled in the club which is a great indication of energy and tenacity within the youngsters of our community.

All of our teams displayed excellence throughout 2019, but we have to give a special mention to our Under 11’s – they remained completely unbeaten all season and won each of the 5 trophies that were up for grabs! Naturally, we were all so thrilled and can only hope that our entire club enjoys much of the same success in 2020.

    Annual fireworks event

We can’t forget Chester-le-Street Cricket Club’s annual 31st fireworks event held on the 2nd of November!

It was a truly magnificent evening if we do say so ourselves, and the abundance of positive feedback we received in the aftermath only confirms this claim.  Almost 1,000 members of the community gathered together at our venue to witness our famous firework display glitter the night sky.

There was music, laughing, drinking and dancing. The children went wild over the pop-up rides and candy floss stalls, and we don’t think the parents complained about the fantastically priced beer and hot dogs!

    Thank you

2019 was certainly a year to remember – if we wrote about every single joyous thing that happened, we’d be here until New Year’s Day. The introduction of our exclusive ‘Keets Club’ membership scheme, England’s victory at the 2019 Cricket World Cup and the Sportsman’s dinner we held for the legendary Chris Rushworth all contributed to a brilliant 12 months. We also can’t forget about all of the birthday parties, weddings, and christenings that YOU gave us the honour of hosting! We really hope 2020 will boast the same success, so next time you’re thinking: “hmm, where are the best party venues for hire near me?”, do keep us in mind!

As we get ready to enter not only a new year, but a new DECADE, we want to thank you all for your continued love and support this year, last year, and all the years before. We couldn’t do what we do without you, so thank you.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

    Love from,

    Chester-le-Street Cricket Club.
