Tips for the perfect autumn wedding

Are you in the chaotic midst of planning an autumn wedding?

First of all, let’s start by saying: Congratulations! This is perhaps the most exciting time in your life, but it doesn’t come without stress – we know that. You’ve probably found yourself, more than you’d like to admit, collapsed over your iPad with 27 internet tabs open attempting to decide on a variety of different factors.

Don’t panic! We’ve put together 3 simple tips for having a successful autumn wedding.

    Take advantage of nature

The autumn season is undeniably picturesque. When you think of this particular time of the year, what springs to mind first? The colour of the leaves on the trees, the chilly evenings, perhaps fireworks?

Incorporating all of these natural elements allows you to take advantage of the season’s intrinsic beauty, which will, in turn, enhance the quality of your day. You’d be amazed at the vibe you can create from using wood, twigs and leaves as venue decorations to really drive the autumnal tone.

Not only does this simple tip add loads of colour, texture, and excitement to your day, it’s also cost-effective!

    Prepare for the cold

Okay, so this may not be the most glamorous of tips but trust us, it’s necessary to remember. It has been said that September to November in the UK are the best months to get married as the weather is much more comfortable in comparison to winter and summer, but no one said ‘more predictable.’

Invest in some blankets or umbrellas for your guests if you’re planning on having a long ceremony outdoors. A simple reminder to bring a coat or shawl via the invite could also go a long way.

    Pick a breathtaking venue

The place in which you choose to celebrate the union of yourself and your partner is arguably one of the biggest decisions you’ll ever make. Take time in choosing the right venue as it has the potential to make or break your day.

If you’re looking for wedding venues in County Durham, Chester-le-Street Cricket Club is a special pick, if we do say so ourselves. We offer a private bar, delicious catering, and full disco facilities, not to mention a stunning view of the fourteenth-century Lumley Castle. You could secure some gorgeous autumn wedding pictures from our balcony or any part of our ground – the choice is yours!
