In this day and age, it appears that we’re all obsessed with keeping ourselves confined within the walls of our home. Television screens, tablets, and in some cases, sheer laziness has completely and utterly trapped us. Cricket is the perfect opportunity to embrace the wonderful outdoors and actually appreciate what Mother Nature has blessed us with.
Cricket has huge connotations to the summer season, which makes sense. Contrary to some people’s beliefs, however, cricketers don’t just dig a hole in the field and hibernate once the colder months arrive, so what’s your excuse for not getting started now?
There are countless resources online to help you get into cricket. Self-help blogs and instructional videos on Youtube will equip you with the necessary knowledge to boss the sport. As well as this, there are indoor facilities dotted around the North East that allow cricketers to feed their passion without worrying about harsh weather conditions inflicting their mojo.
Never underestimate the power of ‘watch and learn’, either. Plummeting temperatures shouldn’t be used as an excuse to put off getting into cricket. You know what they say: “It’s 30 degrees somewhere”, or something like that. Leave a bowl of sweets on your doorstep to keep the trick-or-treaters content, get comfy, and live stream some games on your laptop or television. The ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers is very popular throughout October.
